In March 2018, the second school was opened in Bhalche Gaun, a remote mountain village around 80 kilometres north-west of Kathmandu. Women aged between 25 and 60 take part in the lessons, which take place six times a week for two hours at a time. Until the beginning of 2025, Mrs Yamu Maya Tamang taught here with great dedication; in March 2025, Mrs Sukhmaya Ghale took over her position.
At the request of numerous women and the mayor, we were also able to set up two sewing and tailoring classes here thanks to the support of the Georg Kraus Foundation. From February 2024 to March 2025, two sewing courses with 18 women were successfully held here in parallel. The first students received their certificates at the end of July 2024. The class is taught by the experienced sewing teacher, Mrs Sanu Maya Tamang. There have been initial successes: two students have set up their own sewing and tailoring shop in Kispang.
In March 2025, the sewing school moved to the suburb of Niuchet. Mrs Tamang currently teaches 17 students in two groups here. It is now called the Laxmi Sewing Centre.
